    Hi Folks,

I have a windows 2016 file server and i have enabled Windows Data Deduplication feature and have deduped the volumes.

We use WinDiff tool when running file restore tests and getting alot of errors when comparing restored files and whats actually on the drive.  Im wondering if this is due to this data being deduped?

I know that in the past with Veeam you need to enable Windows Data Deduplication on the backup server to be able to restore deduped files.

Has anyone came across anything like this?

Same as VEEM. CommVault needs the proxy to be the same OS with the windows dedup role enabled so the files can be rehydrated properly.

Ok thanks.  As my Commvault CommServe server is still running on 2008 R2 i will need to turn off dedupe as it not compatable.

Just to confirm is it the main CommServe Server or the mediaAgent server that contains the backup data for the job that needs Windows Dedupe Role enabled?

    Thanks
