    Hello,

We are decomissioning a tape library, but we have some backups that need to be moved to a new location (disklibrary) some of those have inifinite retention. So what we have today is, several storage policies with a primary copy to a disklibrary and a secondary copy to this tape library that will be decomissioned (lets call it "Auxcopy-2"), I know that I can create a new secondary copy (lets call it "AuxcopyNEW) and use the "Auxcopy-2" as the source copy, to move my backups from the tape library to the new location. But my question is, by doing this and after all the data is copied from the tape library to the new location, can I remove the tape library without any problem? The copies are not dependent from each other? Will I be able to restore using only the data on the AuxcopyNEW?

    Thank you,

    Regards,

Yes you can deactivate and decommission the tape library without it impacting the restores on AuxCopyNEW.  If you are not sure that the number of the jobs in AuxCopyNew is genuinely synchronised with Auxcopy-2, then the simplest check is to compare the Total Records Found in both copies. Alternatively, you can export the jobs in both storage policy copies to an XLS file and do a VLOOKUP between both spreadsheets in Excel to be absolutely sure that each AuxCopy-2 job exists in AuxCopyNEW.

I've attached some pictures to show where you can get this info.
