We have our own Public Azure Cloud storage and we have about 16 TB of data to be backed up to the cloud.

What is the best practice to do the initial full backup and then incrementals?

How does the data restore works?

Please share your experiences, your suggestions and any details you have to assist us.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Darsh

With the Public Azure Cloud Storage (is this a BLOB base setup), are you using Hot, Cool or Archive tier, or a combination?

Are you leveraging Commvault Deduplication ?

Is the MediaAgent local or in the Cloud ?

If the MediaAgent is local do we have a dedicated link to Azure?

Depending on the configuration and setup, we can provide further recommendation.

    Hi Winston,

Thank you so much for your response.

    We are using Cool tier

yes CommVault Dedup will be on

    Media Agent is on prem

Still working on the network link details

I will update here as soon as i know more.

My concern is that, is the SEEDING is the only option to do initial full backup for 16TB of data?

    Thanks again

    Hi Darsh

For the initial Full Backup, this will write the baseline data to Cloud.

If the concern is on cost of writing over the network, you can consider using Azure DataBox to locally write the data and send it back to Microsoft to seed it locally
