    Error Code: [19:1253]

escription: Number of restarts has exceeded the maximum number allowed [10].

    Source: Commv01, Process: JobManager

SelectComponentByName failed for Database [call_logs] and Server [xxxxxxxxx]. Please make sure SQL VSS writer is running and verify the writer status using 'vssadmin list writers' from command line.

    Source: 'srvname' Process: SQLiDA

    ------------

I checked and there is no SQL VSS writer listed in the 'vssadmin list writers' output, but the Commvault VSS hardware and provider services are running?

The jobs were working up until Friday Night??

You are doing SQL iDA backups and there is no SQL writer listed in VSS?

    Yes that was correct.

Turns out that the SQL Server VSS writer service needed to be restarted for both servers!

I'd really like to know why the services needed a restart on 2 separate physical hosts, and how to prevent this from happening again..

Not sure what may have caused an issue with that particular writer as those are from SQL/MSFT - anything telling in OS logs regarding it?
