What are the considerations for upgrading the CommServe from SP16 to SP18 when CS LiveSync is configured? In previous upgrades, before CS LiveSync, we simply upgraded the production CommServe using the Commcell Console from Add/Remove Software and the standby CommServe from the command line. According to http://docs.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp18/article?p=2621.htm, there are considerations for the standby CommServe, but it says nothing about the production CommServe.

    Hi jbs727,

there is not much difference from what you are used to, but now you can update everything from the GUI without the need to run from the commandline on the standby node - http://docs.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp16/article?p=105752.htm

there is another method you can follow if you want to be able to still do restores during the upgrade by following this link which puts the prod node in maintenance failover mode. - http://docs.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp16/article?p=104875.htm

but in general you can just update everything right from the GUI now for both nodes (all 4 instances)

after you install the patch the production node you can then do the 2nd instance for prod from the GUI and then simply right click on the standby node (instance002) and Instance001 will also get updated on the standby node - http://docs.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp16/article?p=105752.htm

Thanks for the clarification! Are there any special considerations if we were to use the maintenance failover mode during the upgrade, or is it still all performed from the GUI?
