  • Backup job after VM moved site and then moved back to original site

    Greetings all.

So I moved a VM from one site to another site for some testing. The amount of data was about 20 terabytes. The VM was in a subclient for months and then when I moved it I did a backup of it (so 1st one was a full). After a week I moved the VM back and to its original subclient. It took 3 days and some change to backup. So I'm thinking it has to do with the way the Global Dedupe works. Did it have to verify all the data that existed then backup up new data since the move? Well it was moved on the 17th and moved back on the 23rd and that was when the first backup job ran and it finally completed after 4am this morning.

So tonights backup should catch and backup any data new after the 23rd, is that accurate? I'm assuming that is the case but if anyone knows or has experienced this that and has any insight that would be awesome.

    Thanks!
