    Hi,

We are planning to enable ransomeware protection on our media agents. I have some queries regarding this. It woul dbe great if someone can provide more details around them.

    1) Any impact/performance degrade on backup and recovery after enabling ransomware protection on MA.

    2) Any disk capacity requirement or increase in disk usage after enabling it

    3) In the CV documentation it mentions about Commvault backup user to be the only one having read/write/delete permissions on the mount paths. So this CommVault backup user can be our domain account which we are currently using to access the disk library from the MA after putting in the credentials in Commcell?

Lastly, any other consideration I should have before enabling this feature?

    Thanks,

    Nazish

    Hi Nazish

    In relation to your questions:

    1) Any impact/performance degrade on backup and recovery after enabling ransomware protection on MA.

    • Answer - there should be minimal impact to operations when enabling ransomware. The purpose is to prevent any external writes which is not controlled by Commvault

    2) Any disk capacity requirement or increase in disk usage after enabling it

    • Answer - no additional capacity requirement

    3) In the CV documentation it mentions about Commvault backup user to be the only one having read/write/delete permissions on the mount paths. So this CommVault backup user can be our domain account which we are currently using to access the disk library from the MA after putting in the credentials in Commcell?

    Regards
    Winston
