    Dear all,

we have a set of tapes where we are trying to restore some content.
However, the Storage Policy has been deleted. Is there any way we are able to recover data from those tapes?

If we view the content from a Tape (Tape > View > View Contents), the "No valid data found for media" popup appears and no content is shown.

On the Tape Library > Media By Location > Exported Media, we can see that the above mentioned tapes had a Storage Policy/Copy (which is _DELETED).

Is there any way we would be able to restore data from those tapes?
Those tapes have never been rewritten.

    Thank you for any help.
    BR

There is an option to catalog a tape.

    Try this:  https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=11992.htm

Let us know if it helps.

Hi, unfortunately the catalog operation failed with the following error:

            Error Code: [62:2158]
Description: Failed to initialize catalog operation for media.

Hmm...  took another look at the documantation.  Is this a stand-alone drive?

Apparently this operation is only supported on libraries w/barcode readers:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    About This Task

Cataloging a tape creates an index which you can view to select which jobs to merge into the CommServe database for browse and restore.
Tape catalogue is supported for libraries with barcode readers. Also catalog jobs on Stand-Alone libraries from foreign media is not supported.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
If this is a library with a barcode reader, you may need to open a support call to investigate the error.

Thank you for your support, we already opened a ticket but the support was unable to advise any possible activity for recovery.

I guess the data is just lost
