  • disable dedupe in the subclient settings?

I was wondering if you can answer this for me - does unchecking the box under Storage Device|Deduplication|Enable Deduplication actually disable this entirely for that content or does the SP it is pointed to override this?

When you have lots of content that isn't dedupe-friendly, what are the best practices - dedicated SP's or simply unchecking the box? I know I should know the answer to this but can't see the big bold print in the BoL which answers this for me.

    thanks!

the first part of your question...When you uncheck the box, it will indeed disable any dedup for the particular subclient and the storage policy will not override the config.

the second piece and what I would recommend, if you are unchecking the dedup on multiple clients, I would recommend creating a non dedup storage policy. It will be a lot easier to manage and to re-associate the clients you want to the new storage policy.

ok, thanks. I know the options to build a new SP or copy, I think there is some wording around what effect disabling the SC dedupe actually has - like it refers to local dedupe vs on the MA. But this helps.
