  • Establish new baseline for Windows File Server Backup & Archive?

After a bit of advice please...

We hit a bit of an issue with our SAN, this caused our file server incremental backup/archive to duplicate data which pushed us over 4TB of additional archive data. This is normal as CommVault will protect the data if it is unsure, but the issue is now we have consumed an additional 4TB of license that we would like to get back. It hasn't used any additional storage as deduplication worked perfectly. The issue is that you can't perform a full backup if you have onepass enabled.

I have seen a couple of people suggest on the forum that you could just disable onepass, perform a full backup so you establish your baseline, then enable onepass and run a synthetic full again.

    Any issues with doing that?

    Thank you

    Hi John

Before moving forward and making any changes to the existing onepass client, I would recommend to engage the Commvault Support team to check further.

It is best to explore any other available options before re-doing a baseline as this could consume more capacity which in turn could further impact the licensing side of stuff
