The errors from the Job Controller is quite generic, and could be issue with Network or the Process
As you have confirmed this could be due to firewall.
But you should be able to confirm further when review the Clbackup.log on the Client and the CVD on the MediaAgent.
Hopefully disabling the firewall fixed it, otherwise further review ...
If you have a NTP server, you can follow the below steps to have it setup
#systemctl enable ntpd
#systemctl start ntpd
Check NTP is running
#systemctl status ntpd
#ntpdate -s <local/datacenter NTP server name>
You can verify if the sync was successful using ntpstat
